My name is Thea. I’m the face behind ‘familie’. Along with my amazing husband, we’ve spent the last six years pursuing our passion for photography and videography. Specifically, the art of capturing people, emotions and memories. 

I was born and raised in South Africa before immigrating to Australia with my mum, dad, brother and sister at the tender age of 14. We all know how volatile that age can be and after being thrust into a completely foreign place with only strangers surrounding me, I realised the importance of family. Or in my case ‘familie’. For me, my siblings became my best friends and my parents were one of the only constants in my life.

I am now happily married, a first-time mum to a beautiful baby boy (and a dog mum to Dora) and value family more than ever. 

My heart for ‘familie studio’ is to give people a place where family can gather, fun can be had, silly faces can be pulled, mess can be embraced, ‘different’ is encouraged and moments can be turned into everlasting memories.
